Know What To Look For

Online fraud

“Phishing” and “Web Spoofing”
Beware of fraudulent emails or websites known as “phishing” or “web spoofing” that appear to be from Axiom Bank or other legitimate sites. Always go directly to Axiom Bank’s website by typing “www.axiombanking.com” into the browser address bar. Never click on unverified links in emails, pop-up ads, or on other unknown sites. These emails and links may ask for personal information or redirect you to illegitimate sites that look like Axiom Bank’s site or appear to have the Axiom Bank URL in the browser address bar.

Email attachments and file downloads
Be cautious about opening email attachments from unknown parties or downloading files from unverified locations. Many of these files contain spyware or key-logging programs that can send information back to a malicious site.

Sensitive information
Beware of using non-encrypted wireless connections with computers, phones, and portable devices to send sensitive information from public wireless locations or even from home wireless networks. By using scanning devices, identity thieves can intercept unencrypted signals and view or obtain your information.

“Shoulder surfers”
Beware of “shoulder surfers” while using a computer in public areas who may be trying to intercept your passwords or other sensitive information.

Personal information requested through emails, phone calls, or text messages
Axiom Bank will never contact you by phone or email to ask for your account numbers, PIN numbers, or any other confidential information. Axiom Bank only asks you for confidential information to verify your identity when you initiate contact with us.

Report fraud

Monitor your paper statement, bills, and online accounts
Check the transactions listed on your bank statements, credit card bills, utility bills, and online accounts regularly for unauthorized transactions. If you spot something suspicious, report it immediately.

Sign up for Axiom Bank Alerts
The Alerts Service allows you to request and receive automatic text message, email or push notification alerts about your account(s) at no cost.

Protect your PC with up-to-date anti-virus software
Malicious software, also known as malware, is software designed to deliberately harm your computer. For example, viruses, worms, and Trojan horses are malicious software. To help protect your computer against malware, make sure you are using up-to-date antivirus and anti-spyware software.

Be cautious when sharing a computer
If you use a shared computer – such as a library or lab computer – or share a computer with roommates, log out and clear cookies after every computer session.

Password protect your electronics
Enable the password feature on your cellphone, laptop or any electronic devices that contain personal information. If your password-protected device is lost or stolen, your personal information is not immediately accessible to others. Additionally, most devices have “remote wipe” capability that allows you to erase sensitive content. “Wiping” a lost or stolen mobile device restores it to its factory settings. Refer to the manufacturer’s website to learn specifics for your device.

Watch your U.S. Postal mail
If you stopped receiving your regular bank statements, call our Customer Support at 800-584-0015 immediately. Missing statements may indicate that someone is tampering with your mail or your identity. To prevent mail fraud, enroll in eStatement.

Go paperless
